PEACH STATE FACT FOR THE WEEK

New Women's State Record Fish

Chandler Simon of Atlanta was fishing in Christmas Creek on Cumberland Island on November 25, 2025, when she boated a 3-pound, 6-ounce Florida pompano. The fish set a new women’s state record for that species. The old mark was held by Bycie Curlett of Jacksonville, Florida.

Simon was fishing with Capt. Jeremy Petro of Island Lure Charters when she hooked the pompano. She was using a live shrimp bait on a Penn Battle III reel with 30-pound braid line and a circle hook.
